Alice Gehrke, LCSW

Healing is not a linear path, and may seem daunting to embark on alone. My role is to walk alongside you for part of your journey, bringing warmth, curiosity, and creativity to the therapeutic process.

Hello! I'm glad you're here. I'm Alice, a licensed clinical social worker serving clients in California and Illinois. I provide psychotherapy services to individual adults, with a focus on building insight, self-acceptance, and mind-body integration. Currently, I work exclusively via telehealth.

Services

I specialize in working with young adults, creatives, and individuals managing burnout, anxiety, ADHD, life transitions, and trauma. I provide affirming care for LGBTQ+ and neurodiverse clients, and support for those navigating parenting and caregiving challenges.

I prioritize working collaboratively with clients to support their well-being and help them reach their goals, informed by their strengths and values. Drawing from a varied blend of therapeutic modalities, I aim to create real connections and support clients in viewing their wellness through a holistic lens.

  • Private pay: $175 for 53 minute sessions.

  • Limited sliding scale spots available, please inquire if you believe you may qualify.

Approach

Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion.
- bell hooks

I believe healing happens through connection and witnessing. Relationships are powerful, and the therapeutic relationship can be a potent force for acceptance and change.

The foundation of my therapeutic approach is psychodynamic therapy, meaning we will address current issues by diving deeper into your past to gain insight about what experiences may be contributing to present challenges. Other modalities I draw from include Internal Family Systems (parts work), mind-body integration, and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy).

In my clinical work, I am guided by the values of social justice, creative expression, authenticity, integrity, and connection. I am a lifelong learner, and prioritize the continuous expansion of my clinical knowledge through readings, consultation, and trainings. My background in theatre translates to my work as a therapist, informing my expressive and creative approach to therapy.
